An infantry sergeant stands at Sling Arms. This sergeant is wearing the wool shirt and trousers that were the standard combat uniform of US Army. He is wearing the Garand belt and M1928 haversack. He has attached his bayonet to the left side of his belt. Usually, when the pack was worn, the bayonet was attached to the left side of the haversack. The sergeant has also attached a grenade pouch to his right leg. This pouch was attached to the Garand belt and then secured to the leg by an integral web tape around the thigh.
